After enjoying a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, we’ll gather as a group and set off on a half-day Kuala Lumpur city tour.

Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s vibrant capital — often called the “Garden City” for the way city life and green spaces weave together. It’s a place where soaring skyscrapers sit beside historic buildings and leafy streets, giving you a real feel for both modern Malaysia and its rich cultural roots.

As we explore, you’ll see the fascinating contrast between old and new KL — colonial-era landmarks, bustling neighbourhoods, and the iconic skyline that makes this city one of Southeast Asia’s most memorable.

After enjoying a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel. We will head out for a lovely taste of rural Kuala Lumpur, giving families a peek beyond the city skyline. (approx 3.5hours)

We’ll stop in at a pewter-ware demonstration centre and a batik factory to see these traditional crafts up close and learn how they’re made, then make our way to the famous Batu Caves — where those who are keen can climb the 272 colourful steps to the iconic cave temple.

After the tour, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy Kuala Lumpur your way. You might dive into the buzz of Bukit Bintang with its big malls and irresistible street-food lanes, or slow things down with a special treat like a rooftop drink overlooking the Petronas Towers.

After a delicous breakfast at our hotel. This morning we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight to Kuching — the welcoming gateway to the jungles of Borneo.

On arrival, we’ll head to our hotel to check in and settle. The rest of the day is yours to ease into Kuching at a relaxed pace. You might wander the waterfront, pop into galleries or small museums, or simply enjoy the charm of this riverside city with its heritage streets and stalls selling local crafts and wares.

Your hosts are on hand to suggest family-friendly spots for an easy first afternoon, and to help with Grab or transport tips if you’d like to explore a little further.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off on a guided city walking tour of Kuching. Approx 4 hours

From the waterfront, you’ll spot Fort Margherita, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, before discovering key historical sites such as the City Hall, Colonial Courthouse, and General Post Office—all offering a glimpse into Kuching’s rich and layered past.

We’ll visit Tua Pek Kong Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching, and explore the engaging Urang Sarawak exhibition at the Sarawak Museum to deepen your understanding of local culture and history.

As we make our way through traditional Malay villages and the colourful bustle of India Street, you’ll get a feel for everyday life in this unique riverside city. A stroll along the Sarawak River waterfront reveals why it’s such a beloved gathering place for both locals and travellers.

Food lovers are in for a treat on Kuching Street, where you can try iconic dishes such as Sarawak Laksa—a favourite of the late Anthony Bourdain—and cool off with an iced coffee or Foo Chow community specialty.

The walking tour ends after the Sarawak museum (Natural History Museum). After a full morning of exploring, the rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

You might relax at a riverside café, wander the old-town streets, or simply soak up the easy-going charm of Kuching.

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel before heading out (0800 departure) for one of the most memorable experiences of the whole trip. Today, we journey deeper into Borneo to meet its most iconic residents — the orangutans.

We’ll visit the Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, a protected sanctuary where orphaned and rescued orangutans learn the skills they need to survive independently in the wild. As you explore the forest trails, keep your eyes peeled — spotting these incredible creatures in their semi-wild environment is a moment families never forget.

Feeding time is often a highlight, offering a fascinating glimpse into how the orangutans interact, play and move through the forest canopy. It’s easy to see why they’re affectionately known as the “men of the jungle” — their expressions and behaviours feel so close to our own.

If the weather is kind, the day will end with a beautiful Sarawak River sunset cruise, at 1700hrs. Enjoy gliding past colourful waterfront homes as the sky turns gold. The 13 seater pontoon boats glide past colourful Malay villages with houses on stilts, the elegant city Mosques, the imposing Fort Margherita, and the Kuching Waterfront. Enjoy a full view of the Astana, the former residence of the White Rajahs, which is now the Governors official residence.

We’ll return to Kuching afterwards, where the rest of the evening is yours to relax, unwind or explore at your own pace.

After breakfast at the hotel, today is yours to enjoy Kuching in the way that suits your family best. This is a great chance to slow the pace, follow your family's own interests, and soak up the city’s relaxed riverside vibe.

Culture-loving families might choose to wander through Kuching’s museums and galleries, while foodies can dive into the local street-food scene and sample Sarawak’s best flavours. And if you have any cat-lovers in your crew, the quirky Kuching Cat Museum is a fun stop — this city takes its feline nickname seriously!

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll travel north into Sarawak’s lush rainforest and peaceful countryside. Our first stop is the Sarawak Cultural Village, an award-winning living museum that offers a rich introduction to the region’s diverse cultures. Referred to as a living museum because people live in the houses and create their handicrafts and traditional snacks.

Set at the foot of legendary Mount Santubong and facing the South China Sea, it’s a truly stunning setting — perfect for learning, exploring, and taking memorable photos.

Here, you’ll wander between traditional longhouses and watch local artisans create handicrafts, prepare food, and share the daily practices of seven major Sarawak cultures.

We will be treated to a lively dance performance at the village theatre which will bring the stories and music of Borneo to life.

In the afternoon, you’ll have free time — or you may choose to join an optional Santubong wildlife cruise* to spot dolphins and the rare snub-nosed monkey along the river.

Afterwards, we’ll continue to Damai Beach, arriving at a quiet coastal paradise where rainforest meets sand and sea. Check in, settle into the relaxed pace, and begin your beachside stay.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, then settle into a full free day in beautiful Damai Beach.

Today is all about slowing the pace and soaking up the coast. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, book in for a relaxing massage, or simply stretch out on the sand and enjoy the rainforest-meets-ocean scenery.

And if you feel like ending the day on a high note, a tropical mocktail or cocktail at sunset here is hard to beat. For families keen on a little extra adventure, we recommend an optional day trip to Satang Island.

Fuel up with a delicious breakfast — and by now we all know each other so well that breakfast time is sure to be full of laughs, shared stories, and a few “can you believe that was already a week ago?!” moments as we soak up our last morning together in Borneo.

After breakfast, we’ll transfer back to Kuching Airport for our flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Once we arrive in KL, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You might squeeze in some last-minute shopping, revisit a favourite attraction, or simply unwind and recharge before your journey home.
